You can get Jaspell fonts separately. This is necesssary for you to view documents correctly in some formats, such as ".htm" and ".doc".  You may wish to try the fonts out using Jaspell Jaldi, Windows Character Map or some other programme.

Download and save the fonts to a suitable folder.  You may prefer to create a folder in "My Documents" titled "Fonts - Downloaded" to hold these files together.

If you have old fonts of the same name, you can remove these before installing the new fonts. You may wish to keep a copy of the old fonts temporarily in "My Documents" in a folder titled "Fonts - Old" before removing them. From the Windows Desktop screen go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Fonts and select the old fonts to be copied.  Select Menu Edit / Copy.  Go to the "Fonts - Old" folder, choose Menu Edit / Paste.  Keep the old fonts until you are happy that the new fonts have been installed and initiallized and are behaving as you wish.

To remove the old fonts from the Windows system, on the Windows Desktop screen go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Fonts and select the old fonts to be removed.  Choose Menu File / Delete and Click "OK".

Then install the new fonts. From the Windows Desktop screen go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Fonts, File, Install New Fonts. Point to the folder where you saved these new font files.  It may take a few moments while Windows analyses and lists the fonts in that folder.  Select the new fonts to be installed.  Tick the option box "Copy fonts to Font folder".  Click "OK".

The new fonts need to be activated and initialised.   If your computer does not do this automatically, you may find that the first time you try to use them they don't appear correctly on the screen because Windows has replaced them with some other font.   To ensure that they get initialised before you run the Jaldi programme for the first time, we recommend that you first reboot your computer, or go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Fonts. When this part of Windows opens, it will activate the new fonts and register them, even if this did not happen before.
